Connecting Essay 5

Reference Image:
Here we see in my reference image a typical depiction of a zombie hand coming though the ground. In this photo we can tell it is a zombie hand due to the pale discoloured skin which is like that of a dead person. The hand also is covered in dirt which is reminiscent of the normal way in which a zombie comes back by breaking though the ground from out of their grave.

My Image:

My image much the same as the above image shows a typical depiction of a hand breaking though the ground covered in mud. The main thing that I like about my image is that it was in front of a real grave which I think gives authenticity to my image whereas others don't. Also with this image there is also lots of dead leafs over the top of the grave which gives it a dead lie feeling.

The Connection:

The main connection between the two images is that both of them are coming from the ground like a zombie hand and also covered in mud which makes it seem like there actually is something breaking out of their own grave. The other connection between the two images is the pale like appearance of the hand much like that of a dead person. Other similarity between the two images is the view point is low. Both images also contain the rule of thirds but in the top image it is of a landscape with the image taking up the middle third. The bottom image also use the rule of thirds but portrait. One difference between the two of them is one of them is black and white whereas the other one is in colour. Both also have a similar depth of field where the hand is in focus but the background is out of focus.
