Research On Emerson Quinn

Emerson Quinn:
I have decided to my research on Emerson Quuinn because they do lots of work with dolls. This is an interesting thing to do because it allows for the photo to be whatever you want it to be. This is because there are no restrictions when working with dolls because they are objects. Also one of the things I like about Emerson Quinns work is they they depict the dolls in rather horrific scenes which cause fear to be produced by the viewer of the image.
By doing this it allows for people imagination to play out and fill in the scene with someone from their own memory's which then really messes people up because they start seeing people they know in these scenes. This then adds to the level of fear and also makes the viewer paranoid which is something I find interesting.

Here we have a scene which depicts two dolls hanging in a bathroom. This is a very well known scene because this is something that happens in the real world and the photographer has also created the scene in the same place where people commit this.
Here we see a rather conflicting scene of abuse. This image invokes a reaction of disgust in most people because this is looked down upon. This scene makes the viewer really think because even though it is a very conflicting image it makes people think about the problems that we still face in the world.
Here we seem to have a continuation of the image above where the abuse has ended but the affect still lingers.
This image is just creepy because we have two dolls in the image and only one in focus. The one in focus is staring at the other one. This creates a sense of foreboding in the image because we can tell just from the look that something bad is going to happen.
This photographer has influenced me to use dolls in some shoots because you can manipulate a doll to get the image you want and then you can allow for the viewers brain to fill in the rest of the photo for you. Also this photographer has influenced me to try and achieve some controversial images because I feel like they would be good photos to have and it would make people think about that single problem and they would then voice own opinion.

I would say that the best way to sum up this photographer is to uses the word controversial. This is because lots of their work with dolls is  is very controversial and would offend lots of people. Even though they are controversial I still think that they are a good photographer because they are pushing the bounds that they can photo and are also getting interesting images from their work.
