Work Diary - Shoot 10

Evaluation:
For this shoot the main focus was around the tails of Grimm 'Little Red Riding Hood'. I re-created part of the story of 'Little Red Riding Hood' in a local wood that seemed like it was one iteration of the 'Little Red Riding Hood' fable. The main issue I had when doing the shoot was the temperature, because it was so cold this caused some issues with the model so there was a time restriction on the shoot. Even though this caused some issues with the model because it was so cold it create some breath which caught the light. The images I captured during this shoot worked quite well to capture the essence of 'Red Riding Hood'. This is because it was dark and eerie which mimics the atmosphere of the original story by the Brothers Grimm where the huntsman cuts open the wolf and rescues Red Riding Hood and her Grandmother, then they kill the wolf by placing stones in its stomach seal him back up and then as he tries to run away he can't due to the weight of the stones and dies. They then skin the wolf and leave. This is very different to the version we all heard as a child but my photos which I have taken reflect the original story more.

In this image I used the technique of selective colour and left the red cape of  'Red Riding Hood' still in colour. The reason I have decided to do this is because it creates a more interesting and powerful image which draws the eye to the object of interest.  This shoot was done using a tree to rest the camera against to stop blur and shake. I used a very low speed of 1/30th second at f 2.8 ISO1600. The directional light was a video light which cast good shadows and being continuous means that you can see the scene and how the lighting falls prior to taking the shot. This worked well in making it seem more dramatic and have a sense of a stage presence.

Here we see I managed to capture the breath of the model with the modelling light. This is one of my favourite photos from the shoot because it is by far the most interesting one. The evening was very cold which enabled me to capture the models breath. By not showing the face you get a dramatic affect of knowing it is alive without actually seeing the face of the person.
