Technique Page - Location Portraiture

Portraiture is the recording of an individuals appearance and personality, whether in a photograph, painting or sculpture, or other medium.

The starting point is to get a model and take them to a required location. Then using a wide-angle lens hold the camera close to there head and focus on the head. You then move the camera so that some of the background is in the image and take the photo.

The aim of this is to get an image of the persons head and part of the background.

In this image above we have an example from one of my shoots. In this we see that we have the background out of focus and the model in focus. The result being a portraiture of the model.
