Research On Lauren Freedman

Lauren Freedman:
One of the main reasons I have decided to do my extended research on Lauren Freedman is because lots of her work is very interesting. Lots of her horror work involves using females as both the victim and the suspect. Lots of her work is edited and then made to look more interesting by adding different tones and edits into her photos. One of the other reasons I have decided to do research on her is because lots of her work has a dark and grusome tone to it which makes it a perfect example of the work I would like to try and recreate. Other device that she uses is she decreases the saturation in lots of her photos to decrease the colour which I think is an interesting thing to try and do.

Here we see an example of a horrific image, where we see a woman covered in blood and her mouth held open. This looks like something is going to be put into her mouth like in some movies where they insert a parasite into them though the mouth.

Here we see an image of a rather creepy man wearing a clown mask with a suit on. This person looks like a character from payday 2. This is rather creepy because the person looks like they are going to rob a bank.

In this image we see that there is a little with blood on her face. She is sitting in front of a field and sitting very calmly. This image looks very creepy because the girl is staring directly at you and is acting very calm which is very unsettling.

In this image we see a little girl with her fingers on her lips telling the viewer to be quite. It looks as if she is playing hide and seek but because of the blood on her this makes the viewer feel unsettled because she could be a murderer.

This photographer has influenced me to experiment with photos in more public places the same way she does. This is because I think that it would make more interesting photos and also make people think more about certain areas and how something horrific could of happened there. I like how she creates an eerie atmosphere in all of her photos which makes them very dark and creepy. She has influenced me to create horrifying images by changing the filter to suit the image.

The best way to summarise Lauren Freedman is she uses lots of different types of female models to depict horrific scenes mainly in public. Lots of her images look controversial because in some she uses children is some of her images in scenes that children should not be in. she also uses filters on most of her images to make them seem rather horrific which is an effective method for her type of work.
