Multiple Images - Image Bank

In this image we see that they have faded parts of their  hands to make it seem as if the eyes are over the hands. This affect has been done very well because we see that they have the detail of their hands still over the eyes.

Here we have a person who has replaced the back of their head with a building and has replaced their hair with what looks like to be leafs.

This image portrays two setting which have then later been heavily edited in photoshop. The first image seems to be of a sunny seaside setting and the second seems to be of a very tall building. These two images have been overlaid and then in photoshop a blue effect has been placed over them.

In this image we see a plain and simple example of multiple images where we have the 4 season in a single image.

This image is from a TV shows opening sequence where we have lots of interesting images overlaid on each other to create an interesting sequence.

Minimum Depth Of Field - Work Diary

Evaluation:
For minimum depth of field I decided have a person in the foreground to show what the minimal depth of field was. This image is interesting because it shows that when using a normal camera you can't have everything you want in focus.
Progression:
If I were to continue this projects I would ideally do the same thing but get a wider variety of photos to make it seem more interesting.

Image Within An Image - Work Diary

Evaluation:
In this image we see that I have removed the shoulder of the model and have replaced within the frame what was behind them at that point. This is called an image within an image because we have an image of what is behind in another image.

Here I decided to remove the leg and add what ever was behind the leg in this image. I think this is interesting because it looks like they are missing one of their legs.
Progression:
If I were to continue doing this scheme of work then I would like to have images of things with in peoples eyes. This would be very interesting because it would create a paradox if i where to add the image of the person with someone in their own in to their own eye. Like when you put two mirrors opposite each other you get an endless stream of them.

Here we see someone trying to break out of the eye.

In this image we see the photographer taking a photo of the eye.

Sequencing - Work Diary

Evaluation:
Here in this image we see a string of events which continue from image to image. These events move from left to right showing them doing jumping jacks then them all collapsing to the ground. I decided to do this in black and white because it was easier to capture the movement in the image. Also by doing this it allows for the viewer to focus more on the actual sequence of events happening then what would have been the colorfulness in the image.

For this image all i had to do was get the person modeling to stand in different positions and then take the photo. After I had collected the photos required I then needed to over lay each image and also remove certain places to allow for there to be more then one of the model in the image. This allowed for there to be a story with in the image. Much like the other photo this photo shows a strand of events leading up to the model arriving at the swing from the back of the park.
Progression:
If I were to continue this then I would have liked to have more movement in the photo and possibly have some motion blur within the image.

Here we see the same woman multiple times due to an movement blur.

In this image we see the tail blur from the movement of the balls as they bounce off of each other.

Multiple Flash - Image Bank

This image looks like it is lit from both the lefat and right to give an even image on the model.

This image shows how a second flash gun ads to highlight the shape of this athlete

A key flash and a secondary flash ( the low one) gives a good effect.

In this image the primary flash on left hand side and a secondary flash set low down on the right but slightly in-front of the man gives a nice effect.
A second flash set right behind the couple give a nice silouette/halo effect while a head on flash just stops the image becoming a silhouette.

This shows clearly the use of 2 flash heads. One of the left and one on the right. The left one is the main light while the 2nd one on the right is set slightly behind the model just to give some definition to the back of the head and shirt.
The angle of the flash is critical in these images.

Wide Angle - Straight Images

Work Diary - Wide Angle and Close Up

Evaluation:
In my examples of Close Up photography I wanted to show 2 images as they illustrate one key point in particular. In macro or close up photography your depth of field is incredibly limited. This image from the side of a pack of washing power is approx 30mm wide. Shot flat on all the image is in focus but turned sideways you can see the only area in focus is a narrow band approx 3mm wide that remains in focus. That is what makes macro work so challenging.

This Image also serves as a good example of the way things are printed. You would never normally notice this dot structure in print as its too small to see but here you can clearly see how a full colour image is made of 4 colours.
I chose this image of my dads Landrover as it shows how wide an angle you can get in a small space. This was taken on a 16-35mm at 16mm angle of view. Wide angle is particularly good in small areas where there is no space. It makes things look bigger than they are. It also give exaggerated perspective. The other think with wide angle and the opposite of close up is the depth of field is very large. So it's easy to get a lot of the image in focus.

Progression:
If I were to carry on this series of images for both wide angle and close up I would like to experiment with more extreme views. I would like a fisheye lens for the extreme wide angle shots and would need an extension tube or diopter for the close up work.  I also think that for close up a studio would be good so I can control the lighting.

Giant Sequoia Fisheye by Jane Rix

Superb lighting and just the right depth of field highlights the eyes of this bug. Also the background is clean and simple so dos not distract. I would like to take images like this.

Close-Up - Straight Images

Wide Angle - Image Bank

This amazing image from Notre Dame in Montreal. The photographer says it was straight out of the camera. I really like the symmetry and the saturated colour.

Using a wide angle lens you can focus quite close and still keep a good depth of field. Shooting close gives a very exaggerated view to add emphasis to the subject.
Wide Angle Lenses can add drama and liven up what would normally be a boring shot. This over-saturated image exaggerates the front legs of the Eyeful Tower.
A fisheye lens distorts horizons so can mislead the viewer unless they understand what they are looking at. But it does look very dramatic
Using a wide angle lens distorts any features very close to the lens. So can make for rather unflattering photos. I would not use a wide angle lens in portraiture.
Wide angle shots of man made structures gives dynamic and exaggerated perspective. In the is shot the eye is led into the middle through the lines of the building.

Close-Up - Image Bank

Using a macro lens you can see things that you would not normally see. It gives the viewer a landscape that is usually just past over.  This image was taken using a macro lens with a fast exposure.

Macro photography gives entry into a world you usually don't pay any attention to. I like the lighting on this every day object. It takes something   that no-one gives a second thought to and makes it an interesting study. Some product designer would have put a lot of thought into the design of this ring pull.

Close up photography can make every day objects exciting. In this shot the angle adds emphasis to what would normally be a rather dull image.

Close up takes us so close to a subject we can really see the beauty and complexity of things in a new light. I really like the texture of the eye and the skin on this animal.

Rain drop keep falling on my leaves! I am studying chemistry and biology at Harlow. This shot clearly demonstrates "Surface Tension" Surface tension is the elastic tendency of liquids which makes them acquire the least surface area possible. Hence a droplet.

I would never have known spiders have 4 eyes had it not been for this close-up
